Cherokee County's Jacob Cornejo runs for 420 yards to lead Gadsden area top performers

Here are the Gadsden area top performers for high school football, volleyball and cross country for the week ending on Sept. 15:

Football

Boaz's Tristan Childers ran for 91 yards and three touchdowns on 15 carries in a 35-21 win against Cleburne County.

Collinsville's Quintavious Rogers ran for 108 yards and a touchdown in a 66-13 loss to Pisgah.

Coosa Christian's Clete O'Bryant caught seven passes for 152 yards and two touchdowns in a 48-0 win over Decatur Heritage Christian. He added 10 tackles and a fumble recovery, a 68-yard punt return touchdown and a 60-yard kickoff return

Coosa Christian's John David Justus went 14 of 18 for 225 yards and two touchdowns, while running for 37 yards and two scores.

Cherokee County's Jacob Cornejo rushed for 420 yards and two touchdowns in a 49-21 win against Oneonta.

Cherokee County's Tae Diamond recorded 13 tackles including five for a loss and a rushing touchdown.

Cherokee County's Carson Tittle ran for 63 yards and a touchdown.

Cherokee County's Keyshawn Woods rushed for 104 yards and three touchdowns.

Fort Payne's Nolan Fowler caught five passes for 103 yards in a 63-41 loss to Gadsden City.

Fort Payne's Brannon Oliver caught three passes for 64 yards and a touchdown and returned a kickoff 91 yards for another score.

Fort Payne's Dax Varnadore went 15 of 29 for 239 yards and two touchdowns.

Fyffe's Logan Anderson ran for 134 yards and two touchdowns on three carries in a 54-0 win against Whitesburg Christian.

Fyffe's Ryder Gibson ran for 68 yards and two touchdowns on four carries.

Gadsden City's Jerrell Brasher had 1.5 sacks as part of a five tackle performance in a 63-41 win over Fort Payne.

Gadsden City's Dre Kirkpatrick two tackles for a loss, four total. He added a 69 yard kickoff return touchdown and a 40 yard rushing score.

Gadsden City's TJ Worthy ran for 171 yards and four touchdowns and added a 34 yard receiving touchdown.

Geraldine's Jaxon Colvin ran for 133 yards and a touchdown in a 17-7 win over Hokes Bluff.

Geraldine's Carlos Mann ran for 40 yards and a touchdown.

Guntersville's Enelson Delva carried the ball 12 times for 38 yards and two touchdowns in a 56-14 win over Douglas.

Guntersville's Julyon Jordan ran for 180 yards and three touchdowns on 10 carries.

Guntersville's Date Peterson returned an interception for a touchdown.

Jacksonville's Zae English ran for 102 yards and two touchdowns in a 52-24 win over Anninston.

Jacksonville's Jim Ogle went 19 of 29 for 259 yards and four touchdowns, while adding 70 rushing yards.

Jacksonville's Montay Sinclair caught six passes for 114 yards and two touchdowns.

Piedmont's Cole Wilson went 8 of 13 for 93 yards and threw for a touchdown in a 24-13 win over Plainview.

Piedmont's Dontavious Jordan ran for 155 yards and a touchdown.

Piedmont's Rollie Pinto ran for 40 yards and a touchdown while catching three passes for 69 yards and a score.

Pisgah's Mason Holcomb threw for 354 yards and four touchdowns in a 66-13 win over Collinsville.

Pisgah's Luke Gilbert caught a 65 yard touchdown pass.

Pisgah's Jacob Kirby caught two touchdown passes.

Pisgah's Legion McCrary ran for 148 yards and three touchdowns while adding a receiving touchdown.

Sand Rock's Gatlin Cox caught two passes for 12 yards and a touchdown in a 14-7 win against Section.

Southside Gadsden's Mason Teague had four touchdowns in a 35-21 win against Springville.

Sardis' Brian Chapman threw for 286 yards and three touchdowns in a 29-26 loss to Arab.

Sardis' Blaze Gerhart ran for 156 yards and a touchdown.

Sardis' Carson Gillilan caught two touchdowns.

Sardis Hunter Lowry caught six passes for 121 yards.

Volleyball

Cherokee County's Macy Lea recorded 92 assists to cross 1,500 in her career.

Cherokee County's Ellisan Givens had 54 digs this week to break the school record.

Sand Rock's Katelyn St. Clair had 93 kills and 38 digs during seven matches.

Sand Rock's Rylin St. Clair had 158 assists during the week.

Southside's Kathryn Webb had 90 assists and 22 digs this week.

Southside's Jovi Marble had 73 digs and 10 aces.

Cross Country

Southside's Evan Christopher broke the school record last Saturday with a 5-kilometer time of 15 minutes, 45 seconds, placing seventh in the Chickasaw Trails event.
