Five Orange County high school softball teams have been selected for the CIF Southern California Regional Championships that begin Tuesday, May 30.
Semifinal games are Thursday, June 1 and the finals on Saturday, June 3 at home sites. All the games are scheduled for 4 p.m.
Division 1 champion Pacifica and runner-up Norco opted out of the regionals. Teams in Northern California will also be competing in regionals this week. There is no state final for softball.
Kennedy is seeded No. 6 in Division II and will play at No. 3 El Capitan Tuesday.
In Division II, CIF Division 3 champion Capistrano Valley, the CIF Division 3 champion, is seeded second and will host No. 7 Foothill, the CIF Division 4 champion, Tuesday.
Fullerton, the CIF Division 4 runner-up, is seeded No. 2 and will host No. 7 Orange Cove in Division III.
Irvine, the CIF Division 5 runner-up is seeded No. 6 and will play at No. 3 Mater Dei Catholic of Chula Vista in Division III, Otay Ranch is seeded No. 1 in Division III.
If Irvine and Fullerton win Tuesday, the teams would meet in the semifinals Thursday at Fullerton.
