The Lunch Pail Series — Hutchins BBQ: “Best Texas BBQ”

DALLAS (KDAF) — Coined the best BBQ in Texas, Hutchins lives up to the name. This BBQ spot in Frisco has always been a staple, and with many accolades, it’s made a name for itself.

We got a chance to meet part of the lineage that is responsible for the continuous success, Nick Hutchins, General Manager of the Frisco location.

The Food

This is definitely a meat establishment, meaning if you’re coming here you are definitely a meat connoisseur! From prime brisket to smoked sausage, Hutchins has the staple cut of meats you’d expect at a traditional barbecue spot. They are also known for their famous Texas Twinkies, which is a term coined by the smokehouse.

If you are looking for mind-blowing flavor, the Texas Twinkies are definitely a side or appetizer you have to get with any meal!

The restaurant has also experienced the “Keith Lee effect,” after the TikTok famous food critic stopped by during his Dallas tour. Nick Hutchins talked about his experience and the result of Lee’s shoutout.

“We are super glad that he came and tried our barbecue. We are definitely blessed by that. It had a huge impact on the business and it definitely still has its effect to this day. We are happy that he came out and supported us and we support him as well. The Keith Lee effect is real. So I can vouch for that,” he said.

The Location

Hutchins has more than one location. If their Frisco location is too far for you, they also have another in McKinney. When you go, make sure to leave your mark by writing on the wall! This is a tradition for Hutchins, and they even have had some celebrities leave their writings as well, like Cake Boss Buddy Valastro. “It’s just something to leave your mark here when you come to Hutchins,” Hutchins said.

When it comes to barbecue — and good barbecue — you’re definitely going to pay a price for quality cuts of meat. Hutchins is no different when it comes to their menu . You can expect to pay around $15 to $30 per person. They also have a lunch special, where you can get a chopped Brisket sandwich in BBQ sauce, two sides and a medium drink for $20.99.
