Meet Dune – Pet of the Week
Submitted by the Animal Protection Society – Friday Harbor. Hello there, I’m Dune! My name was inspired by the vast and mysterious dune deserts of Arrakis, and it’s my hope that my blockbuster-inspired name will stir up some excitement around me, thus helping me get adopted. Getting adopted isn’t easy for any animal these days, and the fact that I’m a black cat (the least likely to get adopted, and one of five here at APS-FH alone) means the odds aren’t exactly in my favor. Luckily for me, I’m full of optimism, and I think there are a lot of things about me that would make me an excellent pet, and the best friend anyone could ask for.

Anacortes has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Levy Lid Lift is not for a new building | Letter
The proposed levy lid lift for the library is NOT for a new building. This is a standard maintenance and operations (M & O) levy for the ongoing expenses of running our excellent library. The last such levy was approved in 2011 and has sustained the library’s expenses for 12 years, but without approval by the voters of an increase in the levy amount it is no longer sufficient. I encourage you to vote in support of the library when you get your ballot this summer.
