The driver of a pickup was killed in a crash north of Sanger in Fresno County Wednesday morning.

CHP says the driver of a Ford Ranger was traveling west on Shields Ave. and failed to stop at Academy Ave.

A big rig hauling double trailers full of gravel traveling north on Academy Ave. which does not have a stop sign.

The driver of the Ranger crashed into the rear trailer of a big rig, becoming wedged under the trailer.

As the driver of the big rig was trying to stop, the Ranger caught on fire.

The driver of the pickup, later identified as 48-year-old Jose Cortez Guzman did not survive.

The big rig driver disconnected his truck from the back trailer to keep the fire from spreading.

Academy Ave will be closed north of Shields Ave. for a least 2 hours.
