Gun returned to community college officer after stolen during chase

FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — A gun recently lost during a foot chase with a suspect is now back with its owner, a State Center Community College District (SCCCD) police officer.

According to SCCCD, the officer lost his gun while taking a hard fall near the parking structure at Fresno City College. The officer was chasing a teenage suspect.

Officers say two people were seen acting suspiciously near the area where the officer fell, but it wasn't until he caught the suspect did the officer realized his gun was missing from his belt.

Following an investigation, officers learned that someone had bought the gun and it was given back to police.
