Man found guilty after shooting baby in the head in Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — A man has been charged with attempted murder following a shooting in 2019.

According to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, a 10-month-old baby was rushed to the hospital after being shot in the head.

The person behind the shooting was arrested and identified as Marcus Echartea.

He was found guilty of several charges, including attempted murder, assault with a firearm, and many others.

Investigators say Echartea approached a woman at a house party and tried to force her to sit on his lap.

The woman, Deziree Menagh, left the party with her baby and drove off with a friend.

That’s when officials say Echartea following them, pulled out a gun and fired several rounds at their car.

One of the bullets struck her 10-month-old baby in the head.
