When officers arrived they found the woman identified as 18-year-old Zoe Salinas in the passenger seat of a vehicle, suffering from a gunshot wound.

Officers and paramedics performed life-saving measures, but Salinas was pronounced dead at the scene.

Homicide detectives learned that she was in the car with her boyfriend, 19-year-old Jose Gutierrez Contreras.

The two reportedly got into an argument and that's when police say he shot her and ran to a nearby residential neighborhood.

Officers eventually located and arrested Contreras.

They say he was still armed with a handgun when they took him into custody.
