A California Highway Patrol chase ended with the driver losing control on the highway and rolling over in a field Tuesday morning.

A CHP officer was behind a driver on Highway 99 near North Ave. in Fresno that he said was driving erratically.

He followed the truck for a couple of miles and called for assistance thinking it may be a driver under the influence.

When he tried to pull the truck over, the driver would not stop.

He took Golden State from southwest Fresno to downtown and hit an AT&T pole, shearing it off, but kept driving.

He got back on Hwy 99 heading north where he lost control several times but did not crash.

When he got to the Hwy 99 at Hwy180 connector, he was driving too fast on the offramp and crashed down the hillside and rolled his truck.

He was taken into custody and sent to the hospital to be checked out.
