New farmers market Tuesday in southeast Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — Families in southeast Fresno can now enjoy fresh produce at a new farmers market.

It goes from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Covenant of Faith Family Church at 6269 E. Kings Canyon Rd. in Fresno.

City Councilman Luis Chavez, who represents District 5, says he is thrilled that the district is getting a farmers market.

He says people in his district have historically lived in a so-called food desert. That's when an area has limited access to healthy, affordable food.

In addition to fresh fruits and vegetables, there will be food trucks.

Everyone is invited to come out and see what it offers.
