Man sentenced for DUI crash that killed Amazon worker in 2021

A man was sentenced Thursday for a deadly 2021 DUI crash in Fresno.

24-year-old Israel Douglas, of Fresno, will spend the next 6 years and 8 months in prison for vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.

The crash happened on November 23, 2021, near Cedar and Florence Avenues.

Aurelio Fuentes had just finished his shift at the Amazon Warehouse and was leaving the parking lot, this is when he was broadsided by Douglas.

Officials say the DUI driver was going over 70 miles per hour.

Fuentes was taken to the hospital, where he died a few days later.

According to the news release, Douglas had two passengers at the time, they sustained major injuries, including fractured ribs, a broken leg, and a fractured spine.

At the time, Douglas came back with a Blood Alcohol Count of .09% about one hour after the crash.
