According to the Fresno Fire Department, responders were called to a burning home around 9:46 a.m. near Cedar and Belmont Avenues.

Officials say responders arrived within three minutes and spotted flames coming from the front portion of the home.

Following an investigation, officials say the cause was an accidental grease fire and one person was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.

According to the Fresno Fire Department, four people are now without a home as a result of the fire.

Officials also mentioned the following tip Wednesday should anyone encounter a grease fire in the near future:

"In the event of a grease fire, it is crucial to smother the flames with a lid, douse with baking soda or flour or the use of a Class B Fire Extinguisher. It is essential to remain calm and avoid extinguishing the fire by placing a burning pan in water, as this can escalate the situation."
