People living in a central Fresno neighborhood claim that city hall ignored them for far too long.

FOX26 News checked into their complaints about a Fresno street full of potholes and discovered it resembles a third-world country.

Drivers familiar with Thorne know you have to weave from side to side to miss the potholes. People new to the area drive down the middle and hit them all.

Marco Martinez has lived in the neighborhood for six years.

"It's always been this way if not worse. This is just a little bit of what you see here. They've been deeper."

For six years, Martinez has complained to city hall about Thorne Avenue near Dakota.

"They just come and sprinkle it with dust and drive away."

Tung Le who also lives on Thorne says the city's public works department is aware of the problem.

"They repaved it from the stop sign all the way to the first pothole. I don't know why they didn't just do the whole street."

We watched a man on a motor scooter drive down the sidewalk to miss the potholes.

"At night time you can't see, you can't see them so you come at a good rate of speed and there goes your vehicle."

FOX26 News reached out to the city about the condition of Thorne Avenue. We learned it's on the public works list for paving and adding a curb, gutter, and sidewalk along both Thorne and Dakota.

There's no time frame for when it will be done. "I pay taxes and this is where my taxes should go to you know," said Martinez.

People who drive this stretch of Thorne say no one should have to navigate such a dangerous street in Fresno.

Late Wednesday afternoon, the City of Fresno contacted FOX26 News to say that the potholes on Thorne will be repaired on Thursday.
