FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — An apartment building was destroyed after a fire early Wednesday morning in southeast Fresno.
The Fresno Fire Department says they received reports around 3:00 a.m. of a fire on Chestnut and Laural Avenues.
When crews arrived, they found heavy fire coming from an apartment building that was under construction.
A second alarm crew had to be called in to help protect nearby buildings from potentially catching fire due to flying embers.

Firefighters were able to put out the fire and will be on the scene for about an hour mopping up.
All nearby buildings were okay, but the main apartment building was a complete loss.
Fresno Fire Department says there was nobody living in the building at the time due to construction, but that there may have been squatter staying inside before the fire.
The fire is still under investigation.
