Cultural event brings high school students to Fresno City College

High school students from around the Valley got a chance to display their cultural talents Saturday.

The Fresno City College hosted its first High School Mariachi Festival.

Event Director, Miley Martin says these types of events help bring communities together and gives students the chance to showcase their hard work.

The mariachi competition included six high schools and three academies, which can be seen below:

  • McLane
  • Kerman
  • Orosi
  • Delhi
  • Woodlake
  • Mira Monte (Bakersfield)
  • Roosevelt
  • Ilusion de Watsonville
  • Ezequiel Tafoya Alvarado Academy (Madera)
  • Mariachi Mexico de Gilroy

The folklórico lineup included students from:

  • Roosevelt HS
  • Central HS
  • FCC Folklórico
  • Fowler HS
  • Grupo Folklórico
  • Tanguu Yu
  • Washington Union HS

For many students, this was their first-ever competition at the Ratcliffe Stadium. There were multiple food trucks, vendors, and college information for those eventgoers present helping cheer on these performers.
