Charlie Sheehy was forced to go the distance for the second time in his past three starts.

The former amateur standout went all six rounds to outpoint Angel Rebollar in their ESPN+ televised lightweight bout Saturday evening from Save Mart Arena in Fresno, California. Scores were 58-56, 60-54 and 60-54 for Sheehy, who hails from nearby Brisbane and had the local support but whose game plan was limited to a stick and move approach.

Rebollar (6-2, 3KOs) was game for the cause, as he faced his sixth consecutive unbeaten opponent and came to fight. The bravery exhibited by the 19-year-old came at a price as the cleaner punches from Sheehy produced a mouse under Rebollar’s left eye.

Sheehy (6-0, 4KOs) was left with a battle scar of his own. A clash of heads left the unbeaten prospect with a cut over his left eye and a nick on his left cheekbone midway through the sixth and final round. Action resumed, with the crowd energized as both boxers let their hands go down the stretch.

Jessie James Guerrero fought through early adversity, only to settle for his second straight draw verdict. The 19-year-old prospect overcame a cut over his right eye and determined effort by Eduardo Alvarez to make it to the finish line. Their four-round junior flyweight contest ended in a majority draw.

Judge Abe Belardo scored the bout 40-36 for Guerrero, overruled by matching cards of 38-38 to produce the stalemate.

Guerrero carried familiar bloodlines into the ring and was supported by family and friends who made the two-hour drive from Gilroy. The nephew of former multi-division titlsit Robert ‘The Ghost’ Guerrero—who was seated ringside—was forced to fight through a gushing cut from round two onward, as a clash of heads left him with a slice over his left eye. He was kept calm by grandfather and head trainer Ruben Guerrero, though the younger Guerrero still had to contend with a spirited challenge presented by the winless Estrada (0-2-1, 0KOs).

Guerrero appeared to be the quicker to the draw during most exchanges. However, Estrada landed just enough right hands and left hooks over the top to convince two judges to rule the bout even. Guerrero is now 3-0-2 (3KOs), as he was forced to settle for a split decision draw in his previous outing last December.

Subaru Murata enjoyed the quickest win of his young career. The unbeaten prospect maintained his perfect knockout-to-win run with a first-round stoppage of Jose Negrete in a junior featherweight contest. A right jab and straight left hand put Negrete (2-2, 2KOs) on the canvas, to which the California native could not continue and was halted at 1:47 of round one in their ESPN+ opener.

Not to be outdone, Ricardo Ruvalcaba managed to accomplish his latest win inside of one round. The 6’0” welterweight put away Marco Cardenas (9-8-1, 4KOs) with a pair of body shots to produce a full ten count at 2:59 of round one. The feat marked the fourth first-round stoppage for Ruvalcaba (8-0-1, 7KOs), a 22-year-old prospect from Ventura, California who is guided by legendary manager Frank Espinoza

Headlining the show, former titlists Jose Ramirez (27-1, 17KOs) and Richard Commey (30-4-1, 27KOs) will collide in a scheduled 12-round junior welterweight bout.
