Man dead following standoff with police in southeast Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — A man is now dead following a standoff with officers in southeast Fresno.

According to Fresno Police, officers were called Monday to a home near Chestnut and Hamilton Avenues regarding a fight between two brothers.

Officers say one of the men involved in the fight shot at police while inside the home.

No injuries were reported, but the man’s mother called the police and reported her son had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The Fresno Police Department confirmed the man’s death and say they also found a handgun and rifle inside the home.
