St. Patrick’s Day brought a bit of luck to those who may have been grocery shopping on Friday.

Peelz Citrus, a company that grows its product in Fresno decided to give back to the communities of Fresno and Visalia.

Peelz gave away $20,000 worth of free groceries. Its team scattered orange envelopes at various grocery stores with gift cards that ranged from $50 to $500, including a free coupon for its product.

According to the company, over 500 of these envelopes were placed across 20 stores.

“Need a pick me up? (You should pick me up), said the envelope.

Life can be complicated”, said Justin Parnagian, CEO. “We wanted to provide our community a little relief from the daily stresses of life in the simplest way–find our orange envelopes and win free stuff. As a locally grown business, we feel a strong connection to our community and want to give back in a fun and meaningful way.
