Seitzinger throws no-hitter in Senior Night win over Eastern
MITCHELL – Wednesday night was Senior Night for Mitchell, as the team took a moment before their matchup against Eastern (Pekin) to honor their seniors, including the nine graduating players on their roster; Simon Gaines, Gibson Glassco, AJ Sarver, Jayden King, Ben Seitzinger, Kody Earl, Michael Webster, Ashton Luman and Ethan Turner.
Hoosier Uplands and The City of Mitchell team up for city-wide trash collection
MITCHELL- Hoosier Uplands is teaming up with the City of Mitchell for a community-wide collection of trash. On Saturday, May 18th, and Sunday, May 19th, there will be dumpsters at 2 different locations for the citizens to drop their trash off. Dumpsters will be located at:. 901 W Frank St.
Celebrate National Trails Day – Hike & Learn Event June 1st
Paoli, IN – Youngs Creek Trailhead, Hoosier National Forest. Join the Patoka Lake Watershed Steering Committee and the Hoosier National Forest for a Hike & Learn event on June 1st in celebration of National Trails Day. This free event will take place from 9am to Noon at the Youngs Creek Trailhead, just south of Paoli on County Road 50 W in the Hoosier National Forest. Stop by anytime in the morning for activity booths and giveaways for all ages, centered on water quality and forest health. Guided nature hikes will take place at 10am with Carla Striegel-Winner for watershed ecology/nature, and 11am with Emily Finch for plant ID. Youth that attend one of the hikes or finish a scavenger hunt, and complete their event checklist will receive a free fishing pole.
St. Joseph Church terrazzo floor wins award
St. Joseph Church of Jasper was one of 15 sites recognized by the National Terrazzo and Mosaic Association for the church’s terrazzo floor. Midwest Terrazzo Company of Evansville, Indiana, was the terrazzo contractor who, along with the project architect, Entheos Architects, and the design committee, created the multi-colored configuration for the new floor.

Funding local fire departments; Public Safety Tax discussions continue
With Dubois County volunteer fire departments facing funding shortfalls, elected officials are exploring the option of adding a public safety income tax.
