Regulation now limits one person per tube on Victory Lake and Lake #10 in Fremont Lakes
Nebraska Game & Parks added three regulations to Fremont State Lakes centered around boater safety. The regulations to Victory Lake and Lake #10 are in place and permanent.
The regulations state: "Persons being towed behind a vessel is limited to one on Victory Lake and Lake #10." "It is unlawful to operate a vessel faster than 5 mph/No Wake from sundown to sunrise on Victory Lake and Lake #10." and "Non-powered vessels and those powered by outboard electric motors are not allowed to operate on Victory Lake and Lake #10."
Bill Booth is the Parks Superintendent and says each regulation comes down to safety.
"Everybody wants to recreate safe," Booth said. "Nothing ruins a weekend like an accident or worse on a lake when you're just trying to have a good time."

The regulations are just for Fremont State Recreation area. They are not across all parks in Nebraska or permanent for any state parks or Game & Parks permanent rules everywhere.
Booth said it's important to "know before you go" to see what the rules are in each park and on each lake you intend on visiting.
Kaleb Ludlow visited the park with his family to tube just after Memorial Day and wasn't aware of the rule that only allows one person on a tube - the first regulation.
Ludlow understands the rules are for everyone's safety but that he and his family often have a 'spotter' on the back of their personal watercraft, which eliminates any sense of danger, according to Ludlow.
Booth said one benefit to the rule is that if one person is tubing, instead of three or four, and a boat following behind the tubers sees the tuber fall off, they know they're looking for one person in the water rather than three or four.
