Piedmont girls lacrosse closes season with rout of Newark Memorial
Piedmont High School’s girls lacrosse team ended its regular season on April 18 with a 17-1 win at Newark Memorial. The Highlanders finish the season with a 10-4 record on the field and next have the West Alameda County Conference playoffs beginning April 24 with a home game against the same Newark Memorial squad.
Piedmont softball scores pair of big wins
The Piedmont High School softball team recorded a pair of 10-run victories to put its record to 8-4 on the year (4-2 West Alameda County Conference). On April 17, the Highlanders hammered visiting Hayward 11-1 in a game shortened to five innings due to the mercy rule. Piedmont scored three in the first, two in the second, three in the third, and two in the fourth to take control early. Miya Fujimoto went the distance for the victory, allowing just two hits and a walk while striking out nine. She also went 2-for-3 at the plate, scoring two runs and knocking in two including one on a triple in the third inning. She ended the game in the bottom of the fifth by singling in Mia Leggett.
