    16-year-old arrested in connection with May shooting in Freeport

    FREEPORT, Ill. (WTVO) — A 16-year-old boy is charged in Freeport after allegedly shooting at a group of people he and his friends had been in a fight with earlier in the day.

    According to Freeport Police, the suspect was with a group of people who got into a fight with another group at a residence in the 200 block of W. Empire Street on May 30th.

    That night, around 7 p.m., the alleged shooter returned to the scene and opened fire at several individuals who were in and around a vehicle parked in the driveway.

    No one was injured in the shooting, but a vehicle was damaged, authorities said.

    Police said the suspect fled the scene in a dark-colored SUV.

    After an investigation by detectives, the suspect was identified and arrested on Monday, June 10th.

    He has been charged with Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm and was lodged in the Kane County Juvenile Detention Center.
