Ironclad Distillery Co. has expanded its Newport News business to downtown Fredericksburg.

Ironclad Inn & Bourbon Tasting Room opened in the former Kenmore Inn (circa 1793) in April.

Owners Stephen, Owen and Kara King have made some of the finest bourbon in Virginia for a decade. They wanted to extend their brand to a different, larger market. Kara King, the creative director, wrote in an email that Fredericksburg and the historic home were a good fit. The family purchased the three-story house in 2023.

It is a bed and breakfast, with a bourbon-tasting room and an event space.

“We have created a unique experience that travelers and bourbon enthusiasts are going to love,” Stephen King stated in a news release.

The place has nine residential rooms with a bourbon bar cart in each. The B&B&B features antiques, traditional beds and original fireplaces. The Bourbon Tasting Room, the central hub, offers tastings, cocktails and snacks; it’s open to the public. Guests can host an event or relax in the walled patio garden which features a fountain.
