One Person Killed Over The Weekend In Fiery Crash In Frederick County

The Sheriff’ Office is investigating.

Frederick, Md (KM) The investigation continues into a fiery crash last Saturday evening in Frederick County.

The Sheriff’s Office says at around 7:40 PM, deputies responded to the 3300 block of Basford Road, and found a vehicle along the side of the road engulfed in flames. Fire and rescue crews responded and put out the fire . The driver inside of the vehicle was found deceased.

Authorities say their preliminary investigation revealed that the driver traveling along Basford Road was negotiating a curve. The vehicle ran off the right side of the road, struck a tree and caught fire. The driver was the only person in the vehicle at the time, and no other vehicles were involved.

The Sheriff’s Office says it’s not releasing the name of the deceased out of respect for the family.

During the long Memorial Day weekend, the Sheriff’s Office says it responded to more than 1,000 calls for service.
