Frederick County’s Juana Arriola plans to buy a new home for her parents with the $100,000 top prize she won playing the Lucky Times 10 scratch-off.

A 53-year-old Frederick woman is counting her blessings after scratching her way to a $100,000 top-prize win on the Lucky Times 10 game. Juana Arriola was out and about a few weeks ago in Western Maryland when she decided to take part in one of her favorite things to do, which is playing scratch-offs, and won the amazing prize.
The lucky lady stopped at Waverly Beer & Wine in Frederick while out for a stroll. Juana had $20 in her pocket and decided to pick a mix of scratch-off games to play. She chose five $1 games, one $5 instant ticket and a $10 scratch-off and played them in the store.
“I knew right away it was a winner,” she said, “but I couldn’t believe it was for $100,000!”
Juana had the cashier scan the scratch-off to confirm her big win. The Frederick County woman immediately left the store and went home to share the news with her sister and three sons. She later signed her instant ticket and hid it beneath her bed until she claimed the prize this week at Lottery headquarters.
“I am so happy,” said Juana. “I honestly can’t describe this kind of happiness.”
Originally from Honduras, the grateful player said the first thing she is going to do with her winnings is buy her parents a new home in her native country. She also plans to help her family if needed and save the rest of the new fortune.
Juana’s lucky retailer, Waverly Beer & Wine, is located at 45 Waverly Drive in Frederick. The store will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery for its role in selling a $100,000 top-prize winning scratch-off.
