Franklin man arrested after hostage, shots-fired call
A short negotiation ended with the arrest of a Cayce Street man Tuesday after Franklin police answered a report of a hostage-taking and shots fired.
Andre Brown, 42, Druilhet Street, Jeanerette, was arrested at 5:42 p.m. Tuesday on charges of aggravated kidnapping, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities, and possession with the intent to distribute Schedule I narcotics. Brown was booked, processed and transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center, the Franklin Police Department said.
After the call came in at 5:04 p.m., Franklin officers, with assistance from the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office, the Baldwin Police Department and the Franklin Fire Department, were able to secure the area. After a short negotiation with the suspect, he exited the residence and was taken into custody. The victim was unharmed in the incident, Franklin police said.
