Man Dies After Running In Front Of Tractor-Trailer On Mass Pike In Framingham

One person has died after they were struck by a truck on a major highway in the MetroWest region of the state this week, authorities confirm to Daily Voice.

Massachusetts State Police responded to a report of a pedestrian who was struck by a tractor-trailer on the Mass Pike in Framingham around 10:50 a.m. on Tuesday, June 6. 

Upon arrival, Troopers located a 2013 Freightliner tractor-trailer driven by a 65-year-old man from Connecticut that struck the pedestrian. The driver pulled over and called 911 after striking the pedestrian, according to State Police. 

Investigators believe the pedestrian, who has been tentatively identified as an adult male from Boston, was standing outside of his vehicle in the breakdown lane when the truck approached.

The man then suddenly ran into oncoming traffic and was hit, according to State Police. Authorities believe the incident was an apparent suicide, and as such, no further information will be released.

The incident caused delays of about 20 minutes on the Pike with residual delays on Route 9 as well. All lanes reopened and the scene cleared shortly after 2:30 p.m., State Police report.
