    California Highway Patrol arrest more than 1,100 people for DUI Labor Day weekend

    (FOX40.COM) — Over 1,100 people were arrested by the California Highway Patrol in connection to driving under the influence on Labor Day weekend.

    “CHP officers kept watch over California’s crowded roadways over the holiday weekend, vigilantly monitoring for instances of impaired driving while implementing a statewide Maximum Enforcement Period (MEP),” the agency said in a statement.

    The operation reportedly ran from 6:01 p.m. on Aug. 30, through 11:59 p.m. on Sept. 2, Labor Day. During the 72-hour holiday enforcement effort, CHP officers made over 1,100 arrests for driving under the influence and issued more than 27,000 citations, with over 16,200 for speeding.

    not "mistake". Availability of options make DUI BAD DECISION! Uber/Lyft/taxi, walking, stay at home, designated driver.

    Good. I liken someone driving under the influence of anything to someone running down the street waving a gun. Usually, they get to where they are going without an incident. Both are dangers to the community.
