    Cooling centers opening in Sacramento and surrounding counties

    (FOX40.COM) — The Sacramento Valley and other parts of California are expected to endure triple-digit temperatures this week.

    The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for the Sacramento Valley, Delta and Foothills from 11 a.m. Wednesday to 8 p.m. Friday.

    Cities and counties in the Sacramento area shared a number of locations that will open cooling centers for those who want to beat the heat.

    Sacramento County

    Sacramento

    •North A Emergency Shelter: 1400 North A Street; Sept. 4 to Sept. 6, 1 p.m. to 10 p.m.
    •Outreach and Engagement Center: 3615 Auburn Boulevard; From Sept. 4, 11 a.m. through Sept. 7 at 8 a.m.
    •Sam and Bonnie Pannell Center: 2450 Meadowview Road; Sept. 4 to Sept. 6, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

    Rancho Cordova

    •Rancho Cordova City Hall: 2729 Prospect Park Drive; Sept. 4 to Sept. 6, 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.

    Elk Grove

    •Elk Grove Police Department: 8400 Laguna Palms Way; Sept. 4 to Sept. 6, 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.

    Heat advisory issued in Northern California as soaring temperatures return

    Stockton

    Stockton city officials said residents can get respite from the heat at community centers throughout the city during business hours. All community centers are closed on Sunday.

    •Arnold Rue Community Center: 5758 Lorraine Avenue; open Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    •Stribley Community Center: 1760 East Sonora Street, open Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    •Van Buskirk Community Center: 734 Houston Avenue, open Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    •Seifert Community Center: 128 West Benjamin Holt Drive, not open to the community until 2 p.m. on weekdays, as it’s a shared facility with Stockton Unified School District.
