CAÑON CITY, Colo. ( KXRM ) — Law enforcement in Cañon City is still searching for a man who disappeared under “suspicious circumstances” a year ago on Sept. 12.

According to a press release from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, Shawn Michael Dixon Sr. was last seen and heard from on Sept. 12, 2023. The CBI said the last confirmed sighting was in the area of Rudd Avenue and North 11th Street in Cañon City at approximately 7 p.m., as Dixon was getting out of a taxi near Rudd Park.

Dixon was supposed to meet his family later that evening at Triangle Park but never made it.

“We are hoping someone will come forward with information that will aid law enforcement in their investigation, but especially for Shawn’s family who is desperately seeking answers,” said Cañon City Police Chief John Schick.

Dixon is described as about 6 feet, 2 inches tall, around 190 lbs. with blue eyes and dark brown hair. CBI said he does wear contacts or glasses but was not believed to have them at the time of his disappearance. Dixon also has tattoos which can be seen in the above photos.

Dixon reportedly had an injury to his right ankle and was limping at the time of his last sighting in 2023.

Anyone with information on Dixon’s whereabouts or who may have seen something the night of his disappearance is asked to contact the tip line at 720-254-1331 or email cdps_shawndixonsr_tipline@state.co.us.
