Hanford, Tulare Western collide in a matchup of explosive offenses
With only two weeks remaining in the 2026 Tulare County high school tackle football regular season, the league championship picture is starting to take shape. Here are the top Tulare County games to watch in Week 10 (all games are on Friday, Oct. 16, unless noted), plus the Visalia Times-Delta's predictions. Hanford (6-2, 2-2) at Tulare Western (8-0, 3-0), 7:30 p.m., Bob Mathias Stadium With a win over Hanford on Thursday, Oct. 22, Tulare Western can clinch its first East Yosemite League championship in seven years. The Mustangs last won a league title in 2019. This EYL showdown pits two of the league's top-scoring teams against each other. Tulare Western is averaging nearly 50 points per game. Hanford is averaging 37. Both teams, behind their explosive no-huddle tempo offense, have the firepower to potentially combine for over 100 points. Will that happen? "I hope so offensively," Hanford head coach Cannon Sanchez said. "But I hope we can keep them out of the end zone and slow them down a little bit." Hanford's tempo offense under Sanchez is one of the fastest in the nation in terms of running the next play after the whistle has blown and the ball is

Clovis South opens new stadium with historic first varsity football game
Clovis South made history Friday night, hosting its first varsity football game at the school’s new stadium, a facility designed to accommodate at least 3,600 spectators with room for future expansion. Festivities began at 6:30 p.m., with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m. “It’s a historic moment for Clovis Unified,” Clovis South Principal Sonia Torossian said. “It’s a really special moment for my students and community.” The stadium is the third in Clovis Unified, joining Lamonica Stadium and Veterans Memorial Stadium. Located at the Terry P. Bradley Educational Center at East Clinton and North Highland avenues, the stadium is connected to the campus gymnasium, where basketball games are scheduled to begin in November. Torossian said construction at the site began about a year and a half ago. The stadium is designed with the seating area built into the ground, creating a berm-like structure. Unlike many football stadiums, it does not have a track surrounding the field. The field features natural sod, and the grounds crew painted it in preparation for Friday’s game. The facility is named for the late Dr. Terry Bradley, who served as a Clovis Unified administrator for more than 30 years before retiring in 2009. He died a

Long losing streak finally snapped for Fresno High. ‘About sticking together'
Time to celebrate at Fresno High. After 29 consecutive losses, the Warriors finally had something to celebrate, defeating Clovis South 12-6 on Friday. The victory was significant for Fresno, which had endured a difficult stretch without a win since the last two games of the 2024 season. First-year Warriors coach Steve Daniel told his team to keep playing together and good things will come. “It’s just about sticking together and fighting,” Daniel said. “I told them if you stick together, that’s the key to winning as a team.” That message carried the Warriors through a hard-fought contest, with running back Angel Lopez scoring both of Fresno’s touchdowns on rushing attempts to account for all 12 points. The win also came on a memorable night for Clovis South, which hosted its first varsity football game at its new stadium. Despite the occasion, Fresno kept its focus on the task at hand, earning a victory that could provide a much-needed boost of confidence for the remainder of the season and beyond. “We’ve been preaching, win the moments, and that’s what we’re going to continue to do,” Daniel said. “We just try to win every play, flush the last play, win the next

Fresno Bee Top 25: Dinuba stuns Kerman with late TD; Kingsburg holds off Immanuel
Dinuba High football coach CJ Lester grinned ear to ear after his Emperors upset The Bee’s No. 13 Kerman. He was confident and believed they would pull off the win, even before kickoff started in Kerman. “We kind of knew that we’re good,” he said. “This is a confident football team.” Tony Ibarra made sure his coach left happy when he connected on a 40-yard pass to Josh Sanchez for a touchdown with 23 seconds remaining, securing a 17-10 win in a defensive battle on Friday night. “We’re gonna come over here and we’re gonna compete,” Lester said. “We’re gonna allow ourselves to win the game.” His defensive mindset was spot on, even with Josh Lopez looking over from the opposite side of the field, who has made the Lions one of the top defensive teams in the Central Section. Dinuba can also brag about allowing only 10 points in the game and scoring the game’s first points via a safety in the second quarter. Kerman led 7-2 after a 17-yard touchdown run by Justin Molina in the third quarter. The Emperors regained the lead and converted a two-point conversion for a 10-7 lead in the fourth quarter. Central East's high-powered offense overwhelms Buchanan in 69-38 victory
Figuring out ways to slow down the Central East football team is a tough task for any opponent. Buchanan found that scoring plenty of points would keep the Bears in the game. But when the Bengals got the ball back, they were likely to score again. That was the case Friday night at Koligian Stadium. The Fresno Bee’s top-ranked Central East matched every score the Bears put up and seemingly scored at will in a 69-38 victory over No. 3 Buchanan in a Tri-River Athletic Conference matchup. The win improved Central East’s record to 7-0 overall and 3-0 in the TRAC, giving the Bengals a one-game lead over the Bears and Clovis. The Bengals scored a touchdown on every possession but one, when they punted in the second quarter. Their next seven possessions resulted in touchdowns. That’s tough for any opponent to overcome when trying to knock off Central East. It also makes it difficult for opponents to figure out how to slow down the Bengals’ high-powered offense, which just added Clovis North transfer JR Cruz. He finished the game with 148 rushing yards and five touchdowns. Bengals quarterback Jelani Dippel completed 16 of 22 passes for 354 yards and
