Monday night, the Tri-City United baseball team hosted the Le Sueur-Henderson Giants in a Minnesota River Conference showdown. LS-H built a 3-0 lead over the first three innings before a nine-run fifth pushed the Giants to a 12-0 victory.

With the victory, Le Sueur-Henderson improves to 5-0 (3-0 MRC) on the season while the loss drops TCU to 1-4 (1-3 MRC).

The Giants Logan Feeney earned the victory on the mound, striking out 14 batters while allowing just two hits while Kellen Jirik took the loss for TCU, allowing two runs, one of them earned, over three innings.

The first run for LS-H came in the top of the first as Sam Gupton hit into a fielder's choice that allowed a runner to score from third. In the top of the second, Brody Berndt brought the second run across the plate with an RBI single.

The game was blown wide open in the fifth though with the Giants scoring run after run, taking a 12-0 lead that Feeney was able to maintain in the bottom of the inning to earn the win.

Recording hits for the Titans were Parker O'Malley and Gavin Sherman.

For the Giants, Gupton and Ethan Hathaway both went 2-4 with one and two runs batted in respectively. Talen Schwandt went 1-2 out of the No. 9 spot with a walk, finishing the game with three runs scored.

Braylon Hoffman, Hathaway, Gupton and Logan Fahey all hit doubles for LS-H.

After Tuesday's game against WEM was rained out, the Giants are scheduled to return to action Friday, April 19, when they host Maple River with first pitch scheduled for 5 p.m.

The Titans, on the other hand, will return to the diamond Thursday, April 18, when they travel to Mayer Lutheran with first pitch scheduled for 5 p.m.
