Big 12 Football Week 5: Baylor Wins With 4th Quarter Comeback

BYU and Cincinnati got Week 5 started for the Big 12 with a Friday Night Lights game in Provo. Not only did BYU win, but after the Saturday games, that win is, so far, the only conference win by any of the four new teams.

Kansas and Texas met as a ranked-versus-ranked matchup, and the Jayhawks kept it close for the first half. The Longhorns pulled away in the third quarter to win by 26 points and remain undefeated. The league’s other undefeated team, Oklahoma, had no problem with Iowa State. This sets up an epic Red River Showdown next week, the last time the two teams meet as Big 12 foes.

Houston traveled to Lubbock, and Texas Tech had no issues with the Cougars. The Red Raiders won 49-28.

The two unexpected wins came in Orlando and Fort Worth. West Virginia was a 13.5-point underdog to TCU, and thanks to a couple of late-in-the-game blocked TCU field goal attempts, the ‘Eers won 24-21.

Then, there was the shock that came from the Bounce House in Orlando. Baylor was down 35-7 to UCF with 8:14 left in the 3 ^rd quarter. The Bears would get a late 3 ^rd quarter field goal, and score 26 points in the 4 ^th quarter, including a 72-yard scoop-and-score by their defense.
