TCU junior ties several school records with unlikely power display vs. Arkansas

TCU infielder Tre Richardson put on a power display, tying two program records Sunday against Arkansas in the NCAA Division I baseball tournament.

Richardson entered the day with only two home runs on the season but socked three long balls on Sunday, including two grand slams. The junior finished with three homers and 10 RBI, tying the school's single-game mark in each category.

The former Baylor transfer hit his homers in three consecutive at-bats, a monumental feat worthy of the Michael Jordan shrug Richardson gave rounding first after his second and third round-trippers.

While Richardson accounted for more than half of TCU's runs against Arkansas, he wasn't the only Horned Frog to terrorize Razorback pitching.

Third baseman Brayden Taylor joined Richardson, going deep for one of three hits on the day while knocking in four runs. Meanwhile, including Richardson and Taylor, six TCU players recorded multiple hits Sunday, including centerfielder Elijah Nunez (4), catcher Karson Bowen (3), first baseman Cole Fontenelle and shortstop Anthony Silva (2).

Weather delays halted play several times, dragging out TCU's stunning 20-5 victory over Arkansas, who must now defeat Santa Clara Sunday night to keep their season alive. Ranked third in the nation, Arkansas entered as the top seed in the Fayetteville Regional but now needs three straight wins over two days or their dreams of Omaha will be dashed. If they're successful against Santa Clara, they'll have to knock off TCU twice on Monday to advance.
