Metroplex man dies after wreck on Interstate 30

Cause of death remains under investigation

A man from the Dallas- Fort Worth Metroplex area died May 29 following a crash along Interstate 30 near the Hopkins-Franklin County line, but the cause of death was investigated by Hopkins County Sheriff ’s Office.

Officials responded around 11:45 a.m. Memorial Day to what was reported single vehicle crash on I-30, in the area of mile marker 141.

Officials reported a vehicle has indeed crashed between FM 900 and County Line Road. Evidence of some type of injury was obvious.

The driver and single occupant from the vehicle was found in the area. He was pronounced deceased at 12:19 p.m. by Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Brad Cummings.

The car was reported to have been traveling from the metroplex when the crash occurred. Investigators said it appeared the man had sustained self-inflicted injury just before the

crash.

Arslan Anwar of Frisco was pronounced deceased by Judge Cummings, who ordered an autopsy be conducted.

An official ruling has yet to be determined pending results of additional lab testing as part of the autopsy.

While at least one lane of traffic remained open, traffic Monday afternoon slowed on I-30 for a few hours as authorities investigated and cleared the area.
