Participate all summer long, track reading time and earn a free book after completing six challenges with at least one for reading, the news release stated. Participants must download the Beanstack app and sign in to the challenge to begin tracking minutes and progress in the challenge.
To kick off the program, community members are invited to join the Fort Worth Public Library for a special kickoff event for the challenge. According to the news release, the event will be held June 3 from 2-5 p.m. at Trinity Park, located at 2401 University Drive.
Free fun activities for families will include:
- Lawn games
- A bounce house
- Face painting
- A concert featuring The Go-Go Rillas
- Kona ice snow cones (free for the first 200 guests)
- Representatives from the Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge and community mascots
The library’s summer reading efforts are funded in part by a contribution from Atmos Energy to the Fort Worth Public Library Foundation, according to the news release. Families are invited to visit regular story times to enjoy songs, stories and crafts. Minutes that participants read or are read to count toward completing challenges.
According to the news release, a valid Fort Worth Public Library card provides free morning admission on the first Mondays of June, July and August to the Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge as well s=as access to a special story time at 10:30 a.m.
