Gonzaga beats TCU in NCAA Tournament 2023: Live updates recap, highlights

The Bulldogs rallied to beat the Horned Frogs 84-81

The Gonzaga Bulldogs advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament for the eighth consecutive year with an 84-81 win over TCU on Sunday night.

Drew Timme scored 28 points and Rasir Bolton added 17 for the third-seeded Bulldogs who trailed 38-33 at halftime.

SECOND-HALF UPDATES

Final score: Gonzaga 84, TCU 81

Gonzaga advances to the Sweet 16 for the 8th consecutive season. Drew Timme was a beast with 28 points and 8 rebounds and Rasir Bolton had a massive second half, finishing with 17 points.

The Zags could not hit a shot in the first half - they were 2-for-14 from the 3-point line - but they responded in the second half with a 6-for-11 performance from the 3-point line.

Gonzaga 77, TCU 73: TCU's JaKobe Coles hits a 3-pointer with 45 seconds left to cut Gonzaga's lead to four points. TCU takes their final timeout.

Gonzaga 70, TCU 64: Drew Timme scores and gets fouled with 3:47 left to give Gonzaga a six-point lead. Timme will be shooting a free throw after the media timeout. Both of those teams look tired playing at 5,000+ feet.

Gonzaga 66, TCU 61: Gonzaga guard Malachi Smith hits a transition 3-pointer and Gonzaga calls a timeout with 6:37 left in the game.

Gonzaga 63, TCU 55: Anton Watson's steal and dunk gives the Bulldogs an eight-point lead with 8:41 left in the game.

Nolan Hickman hurt: Hickman is down on the floor with 8:18 to play in the first half and TCU leading 23-15. He took an inadvertent elbow to the jaw from a TCU player. It appears he'll be ok to come back into the game.
