2024 Highlight Zone Preview: Wayne Generals

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The Wayne Generals should pack plenty of punch offensively this fall, as Sherwood Haydock’s team returns a number of key playmakers off a team that went 5-5 in 2023.

Receivers Harold Mack and Jacob Sharin return as one of the top receiving duos in the SAC, and perhaps all of northeast Indiana. Mack, who has scholarship offers from Marshall, Ball State, Miami (Ohio), Toledo, and a number of other MAC programs, snagged 24 receptions for 463 yards and 5 touchdowns last fall. Sharin tallied 18 receptions for 201 yards with 3 TD receptions to go with 3 rushing touchdowns.

Running back Kimar Nelson rushed for 529 yards and 6 TDs last fall as a junior, while quarterback HJ Dillard will replace Marcus Cooper, who has graduated. Dillard will play behind a line anchored by senior Brian Rogers.

Defensively, cornerback Adrian Wooten had 5 interceptions last year as a junior and will be counted on to lead the secondary. Nelson, who had 92 tackles – including 22.5 TFLs & 9 sacks – along with Jayden Busche (52 tackles) will head up the linebackers.

Wayne opens the season Friday, August 23 at Crispus Attucks in Indianapolis.
