FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) - Fox 55 is looking for nominations for our Unsung Heroes segment.

We want to honor the Unsung Heroes in our community!

Following the success of the series in partnership with the Indiana Black Expo, Fox 55 is continuing to showcase local residents who go above and beyond to make a difference in the lives of others.

Some of the previous Heroes featured on Fox 55 include Zynette Paige, Facility Supervisor at Weisser Park Youth Center, who works with youth to build self-esteem through the arts; Fort Wayne Fire Chief Eric Lahey, who helped create United Front, an organization that promotes inclusivity and racial diversity; the Cosmopolites, a local women's club that has provided holiday help to the needy, victim's assistance, school supplies, and academic scholarships for over 65 years; and dental surgeon Dr. Tom Blake, who has done dental care mission work in Honduras.

Hero Zynette Paige said of the nomination, "I do feel honored, how can I not feel honored, but there are others who impacted this award being given to me. For example, Kweku Akan, the former supervisor here at Weisser Park Youth Center, and the staff. We did this together."

The Unsung Heroes program focuses on inclusivity and diversity, honoring those who do not look for attention for all the good they do.

Indeed, they are the person you know who doesn't even recognize the hero inside themselves.

Chances are, you know someone like this who makes such a difference in someone's life: a neighbor, a co-worker, an employee, or a friend.

If you or your organization knows one of these Unsung Heroes, nominate them and we might share their story during Fox 55's Tuesday newscasts at 6 p.m.

Nominations can be made online at https://www.wfft.com/site/forms/unsungheroes.

One nomination will be chosen for each week and entered into a pool of nominees who may be honored during the Unsung Heroes Banquet this spring.
