FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — Authorities are investigating a section of the Rivergreenway on Fort Wayne’s east side after police found a body along the Maumee Pathway portion of the trail.

At approximately 5:20 p.m., police received a call about a “man down” on the Maumee Pathway between Anthony and Coliseum boulevards and near Daryl B. Cobin Memorial Park.

When officers arrived, they found a body in the tree line near the river.

Authorities said there is no clear indication of how the person died or how they got to where they were found, but police said “high river levels” are believed to be a factor.

The Fort Wayne Police Department, Allen County Coroner’s Office, and Indiana Department of Natural Resources are investigating the incident.

Police said the section of the trail between Coliseum and Anthony boulevards was closed while the scene was processed.
