FORT SMITH, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Parts of Highway 71B (Towson Avenue) will experience lane closures due to a resurfacing project.

Lane closures will be restricted to between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. Weather permitting, the closures should last about a month, according to a news release from the City of Fort Smith.

This pavement preservation project involves milling and overlaying 3.8 miles of Towson Avenue, spanning from Highway 64 (Garrison Avenue) to Highway 271.

Forsgren Inc. was awarded the contract in February 2024 for approximately $2.6 million, according to a news release. The project, originally scheduled in June, was postponed due to weather and scheduling issues.

spend millions on an already failed project ,try fixing the flood issue first, then the roads may last longer, but hiring a band of gyspy to resurface the roads 😀 is costly for the residents
