HOWEVER -- CAR TRAVEL IS EXPECTED TO BE DOWN SLIGHTLY FROM PRE-PANDEMIC LEVELS. THE FORT SMITH MUSEUM OF HISTORY-- IS OPENING A NEW EXHIBIT TONIGHT. IT'S CALLED BULLS, BRONCS, BEAUTIES, AND BOOTS. IT TAKES A LOOK BACK AT THE 90 YEAR HISTORY OF THE OLD FORT DAYS RODEO. IT FEATURES ARTIFACTS AND IMAGES THAT EXPLORE THE HISTORY AND PEOPLE WHO CONTRIBUTED TO THE ANNUAL OLD FORT DAYS RODEO. CHAMPION BULL RIDER DENNY FLYNN SPOKE TODAY ABOUT THE EXHIBIT. HE SAYS IT SHOWS JUST HOW FAR THE RODEO HAS COME. "They've built a lot of bleacher seats. They've put a top on the arena so they don't have to sit in the rain. The prize money has grown exponentially." <> "Year after year it just keeps getting better and better. Bigger and bigger." The Fort Smith Museum of History opened a new exhibit telling the history of the Old Fort Days Rodeo.The exhibit is called Bulls, Broncs, Beauties and Boots. It looks back at the 90-year history of the rodeo.It features artifacts and images that explore the history and people who have contributed to the rodeo over the decades."They've built a lot of bleacher seats," said Denny Flynn, a champion bull rider. "They've put a top on the arena so they don't have to sit in the rain. The prize money has grown exponentially."Flynn said that, as a result, the quality of the competition has improved."Year after year, it just keeps getting better and better," Flynn said. "Bigger and bigger."The museum will also host a rodeo-themed event for kids every Thursday this summer.The kids' program is free to the public.40/29 is a weather sponsor of this year's Old Fort Days Rodeo.
