"Poets are the Destroyers" will be shown at the Fort Smith International Film Festival weekly Thursday night screening in The Bakery District.

"Poets Are The Destroyers" is from Bentonville native Nancy Pop. The film tells the story of a young poet who faces crippling writer's block amid an unexpected pregnancy. Filmland: Arkansas, annual curated celebration of cinema, chose the film as a 2022 feature selection.

Director and producer Pop will attend the screening. A filmmaker mixer will start at 6 p.m. The first 20 people will receive Fort Smith International Film Festival giveaways. Collaborating with the independent bookstore Bookish, local poets will read works alongside the director. The film screening will begin at 7 p.m. A question-and-answer period will follow the film.

Before the show, the Fort Smith International Film Festival will reveal its 2023 poster, designed by Alex Williamson. As one of the world’s top graphic artists, Williamson has created work for The Wall Street Journal, Adidas, the World Health Organization, Guinness, Time magazine, The Economist, The Guardian, The Atlantic, Fortune and others.
