Donut Shop in Fort Collins Looking for Their Next Owner, Fans Sad

Donut or doughnut, both are correct. Doughnut is the traditional spelling, but hard to spell apparently so most people use donut as a simpler version. Same meaning and the same delicious fried dough treat.

There have been some pretty awesome donut shops that have come and gone in Fort Collins. Unfortunately, a fan favorite is looking for their next owner.

Fort Collins Donut Company on North College, better known as FOCO DOCO announced on Instagram changes were coming.

Fans are posting and really hoping that vegan donuts and gluten-free donuts will continue with the next owner as well as the hot, fried-to-order freshness.

FOCO DOCO donuts are made differently. They explain that they "make "Colorado Style,” featuring the best ingredients the state offers, whether it’s Western-slope favorites such as Palisade peaches and cherries to honey harvested in town and rhubarb grown mere blocks away from us. We make everything from scratch without unnecessary sweeteners or preservatives."

With the announcement that Krispy Kreme is coming to south Fort Collins sometime this year, we all must realize the donut market is still alive and well. People love donuts.

The donut has roots that go back as early as 1485 in a cookbook from Nuremberg, Germany. Donuts in some form are served all over the world. There's even a National Doughnut Day on the first Friday of June.

The motto for Fort Collins Donut Company is "hot donuts for hot people" and I love that. Small local places can do things like that. Let's hope someone buys FOCO DOCO and really embraces all the tasty possibilities.
