ALDOT to update intersection after Labor Day

The Alabama Department of Transportation will be applying fixes to the US-280 and US-80 intersection to alleviate the bottleneck problem. ALDOT recently instituted a strict “no turn on red” rule for motorists turning right from US-280 West onto US-80 East (JR Allen Parkway) that resulted in significant backup and some accidents, angering commuters. After receiving copious amounts of angry feedback from the public, state officials re-evaluated conditions.

ALDOT halts temporal lane closures for Labor Day weekend

According to a release from the Alabama Dept. of Transportation (ALDOT), temporary lane closures will be halted for the upcoming Labor Day weekend. The ALDOt will have no lane closures on interstate routes from Friday, Sept. 4, at noon until Monday, Sept. 7, at 11:59 p.m. Alabama’s roadways are expected to experience higher traffic volumes during the holiday hours, and the suspension of lane closures for road construction is designed to reduce traffic congestion and improve safety with more people traveling.

It is also why grade crossing safety is never far from the minds of the people who answer the call.
