Denton police are investigating a robbery report at WinCo Foods after an employee said two thieves assaulted him Sunday afternoon, according to a police report. At about 12:34 p.m., Denton officers responded to a disturbance at the grocery store located at 2645 W. University Drive. An employee who works in loss prevention said two people were stealing items and being difficult.
Alleged drunk driver had spilled beer and handgun in car, police say
Officers found a handgun inside a 27-year-old man's vehicle, along with an open alcoholic drink, according to a Denton Police report. At about 2:15 a.m. Saturday, officers were patrolling the 100 block of Avenue A and stopped a vehicle.

Crews were dispatched to a working structure fire in the 9000 block of Blanco around 7:45 a.m., according to an ESD spokesperson. The fire was contained to the garage. The cause is under investigation.
Man in custody, accused of cyberstalking two SMU students
A man is in custody after he was arrested by SMU police and is accused of harassing and stalking two SMU students on campus. The 22-year-old man, Ian Smith, was arrested on April 12 after a student reported seeing him on campus that morning following police alerts to stay wary of a convicted felon. Police subsequently conducted a search and found Smith in Carrollton.
