Shots fired in Chicago Ridge Commons parking lot
Shots were fired Wednesday night in the parking lot at Chicago Ridge Commons mall. Police said they received reports of the shooting about 9:45 p.m. No injuries were reported. Multiple witnesses told police four men were walking through the parking lot from the XSport Fitness area. They approached two vehicles and separated with two entering a gold vehicle, possibly a Honda, and the other two subjects entering a black vehicle, possibly a Honda.

What Can We Learn From the Ruins of Gary, Indiana?
It’s hard to imagine how a building as grand as the City Methodist Church in Gary, Indiana, could ever become abandoned. Completed in 1926, the spectacular nine-story complex also included, at one time, a 1,000-seat theater, offices, a dining hall, and a gymnasium. Built at a cost of over $800,000—equivalent to over $14 million today—City Methodist served more than 3,000 congregants at its peak before dwindling attendance and lack of funds led to its closure in 1975. Today, ivy cascades like a waterfall through its broken stained glass windows, the sagging remains of the choir loft clinging desperately to the wall.

Lockport looks to fill vacant lot with townhomes
Lockport — The Lockport Committee of the Whole approved a plan for a new unit of townhomes to be constructed at 25 Charles St. on May 1. The proposed development would include five townhomes located at the corner of Charles Street and Princess Court on a vacant lot surrounded by other residential developments.
No Injuries After School Bus Rear Ended In Lockport
A school bus was involved in a minor accident this morning. For a time, Archer Avenue was blocked between 151st and New Avenue. According to Lockport police, there were about 30 students on the bus at the time of the accident. The bus was stopped to pick up a student when it was rear ended by a pickup truck that was hauling a trailer. Police say there were no injuries, and Archer Avenue has been reopened.
