Gov. McMaster talked about the future of South Carolina and the vision he sees for the state during an appearance in Florence County Wednesday.
When asked where he sees the Palmetto State in 10 years, he said he wants to see a lot more jobs.
In order to do that, he plans on making South Carolina a leader in technical education.
The governor’s plan is to boost the economy by adding to programs at the 16 technical schools, including more scholarships for students.
McMaster said we already have the best technical schools in the country, but he wants to take them a step further by being able to personalize the curriculums.
“When businesses in other parts of the country or the world see if they want to come to South Carolina, we can send a team from our technical college system to see how their operations work and come back and set up a curriculum just for them for free. Nobody else in the country does that,” said McMaster.
The governor believes this is the key to building our economy while also providing jobs in the future.
He said that jobs are crucial to ensure that people and their children can live good lives here and never want to leave South Carolina.
The governor said that in 2022 more than 14,000 jobs were created with more than 10 billion dollars in new capital investments.
He added that this year alone, we already have more than five billion dollars in new capital investments.
