One lane of I-95 North at mile marker 174 and 175 is being closed Thursday afternoon due to a number of fires, according to Windy Hill Fire Chief John DeLung.

DeLung said the fires started just after 11 a.m.

"Somebody was probably dragging a chain on the back of a truck. It sparked something and caught the grass on fire," she said.

A viewer shared a video with ABC15 of all the small fires along the interstate.

Some travelers said the smoke was quite thick at times.

DeLung said they're doing all they can to put out the fires as quickly as possible, but had to close one lane in order to do so.
