FISHERS, Ind. — The Fishers Police Department used a PIT maneuver to end a chase on Friday.

FPD indicated that the short vehicle pursuit broke out after officers were called to a Target on Commercial Drive for a theft investigation.

Target Asset Protection told FPD officers that known theft suspects were in their store. As police arrived at the scene, the suspects were leaving the area in a vehicle and heading toward Technology Drive.

According to a press release, police attempted to pull the vehicle over. The vehicle stopped, and officers then detained three men.

While police were detaining the men, a woman in the passenger seat of the vehicle climbed over to the driver’s seat and then sped away. FPD reported that its officers pursued the woman.

The pursuit ended near 116th Street and Interstate 69 around noon. The female driver was then detained, per FPD.

Three of the car’s occupants were arrested and taken to the Hamilton County Jail — 23-year-old Jaelyn Jones of Indianapolis, 27-year-old Jayquan Guardiola of Cicero and 31-year-old Marquese Collins of Indianapolis.

Below are the charges Jones, Guardiola and Collins were arrested on:

PIT stands for Precision Immobilization Technique. The tactic is designed to force a vehicle to turn sideways abruptly and come to a stop.
